Client Showcase

We wanted to showcase a client that knows the true meaning of family. When Andrew, Angel, and Myles Foy walk through our front door, you can feel the love that they have for each other. Karen has had the priviledge of watching their family grow over the past 12 years from their wedding until now. They adopted their son, Myles, almost three years ago and are exploring adoption for a second time.

The following is a letter written by Andrew, telling the story of his family.

Angel and I met in February 1994. We met through mutual friends while Angel was in college at Pfeiffer and I was in the Marine Corps in Jacksonville, NC. We had a short courtship and on Christmas day of the same year we were engaged. We waited until I got out of the military 2 years later to get married on October 19, 1996.

Our wedding was the grandest event I have ever attended. The ceremony was at dusk and we were later met at our reception at the Salisbury Depot by 300 of our closest friends. It was an incredible night that in hindsight seemed as though it had lasted about 15 minutes. We then spent the next week in Orlando, Florida at Walt Disney World for our honeymoon, and like our wedding and the 10 years to follow seemed like a blur it’s gone so fast. It’s absolutely true what they say, time flies when you’re having fun!

The ten years after our wedding we spent on our careers, I have been very fortunate to have worked for the same great company since leaving the military and Angel successfully ran two cosmetic stores in Charlotte. We are also very fortunate to have had the love and support of our family and old friend as well as meeting great new friends along the way.

Friends are a very big part of our lives and we feel we are a big part of theirs, we’ve watched them marry, helped them through terribly losses of family members and shared the joy in the arrival of new ones, Angel and I have even been honored with the role of godparent to several of our closest friend’s babies.

We too had the pitter-patter of tiny feet on our floors, though they were only those of our two lazy Shih-Tzu’s, Hank & Dottie. We needed more. Unable to have children ourselves, we explored other options. A good friend with children of her own offered to be a surrogate Mother for us, though extremely grateful, the expense financially and emotionally we felt would be too great. Adoption was our answer.

For a year Angel and I went through the classes, interviews, blood work, back-ground checks, waiting, hoping and praying required by an organization linked with agencies looking for adoptive parents.
And for a year we waited.

Angel being the impatient and proactive person she is, decided the system wasn’t moving fast enough so she contacted the agencies directly. Thank God she did. One agency had us in their office within the week and said they had a young girl ready to deliver within the next three months. We decided right then and there, that was our baby!

For the next three months we got to know this beautiful, mature, unselfish, young girl who would not only give us a child she was unable to care for, she gave us the experience of having a child most adoptive parent don’t ever get. She gave us doctor visits, she let us feel him kick inside her belly, ultrasound photos, hearing his little heartbeat from a machine in a doctor’s office, experience what labor pains might be like and watching him being born and take his first breath.

That was almost three years ago. Since then our house looks like Toy’s-R-Us. Since then we are running out of space on our walls, office desks and refrigerator doors due to an over run of pictures. Since then he has grown into the most beautiful little boy I’ve ever seen. Since then, Edwin Myles Foy has changed our lives for the better to say the least. Not only has he changed our lives but he’s changed a whole community of people in ways he’ll never know.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to talk about my family, I hope it’s not too long and rambling, but I could go on all day. Karen and Irresistible Portraits have been a big part of our lives. Karen took pictures of Angel in her dress prior to the wedding; she was our wedding and reception photographer, has taken several family portraits, Mylesey’s first pictures as a baby and even took pictures for his first “professional modeling gig”. Karen has a true gift; Myles will not smile, pose or sit still when we or anyone else (for that matter) even takes out a camera.

Photographs taken at your studio have graced our walls and been given as great gifts for the past 12 years and I’m sure will be for a long time to come. Thank you for the memories.

Angel, Andrew & Myles Foy
