Have a Heart. Dress a Child.
On Saturday, December 6th, I was invited to attend a party through the Jr. Charity League. Paula Galvin opened her home for the 3rd annul party to raise money for "Have a Heart. Dress a Child."
Last year, they clothed 1100 kids and this year, they hope to clothe 1250 kids. The eligible children are chosen by the counselors at each school in Cabarrus County.
I talked to Chris Williams, president of the Jr. Charity League, who gave me a lot of interesting information. Right now, the store where the kids come to shop for new clothes is in a building behind the Glen Center. The school system allows them to use this building for the Clothing Room.
They can clothe 22 kids in two hours! Each child receives a coat, a hat, underwear, a pair of jeans, long sleeve shirts, short sleeved shirts, a sweatshirt, shoes, and a uniform for school. These are all new clothes. They still have the tags on them from the store. It is like a real store! They even have a dressing room.
They have companies that donate like Old Navy and Shoe Show. At the end of each season, if they have a large stock of items left over, they will give them to Jr. Charity League at an extremely great price.
Here are a few images from that evening!

The Jr. Charity League works all year at raising money. It was so nice to meet so many caring, giving people in our community, coming together for such a great cause. If you would like to donate to the Jr. Charity League, you can send donations to: The Jr. Charity League of Concord, PO Box 1008, Concord, NC 28026 or call 704.652.0669.
