Arthur Rainville Seminar
Earlier this week, Karen attended a seminar to learn from the talented Arthur Rainville. Arthur has dedicated his photography career to bringing photography back into a high art form.
Perfect quote from his website to describe Arthur: "Just as Robert Henri is to painters, so is Arthur Rainville to photographers - the Poet Lauraete of Photography." - Darrell Chitty, Louisiana
When Karen sees an image she really likes, she tends to try to figure out how they lit it or staged it, etc. Arthur teaches that you should ask, "What was the artist thinking?"
Arthur gave each photographer the assignment to bring images from magazines that they really liked and then some of their own images that they feel capture them as artists. During the seminar, each photographer had to lay out their magazine images with their own images. This will tell an artist is they're being as creative as they'd like to be and if they going in the right direction as an artist.
When Karen laid her images out, they matched! All the images had interesting interaction with limbs. She really pays attention to arms and legs and subjects holding one another. It was actually really cool to see this! So, in other words, Karen is doing what she does best!
During the seminar, Arthur also taught alot of new lighting techniques and had some really great ideas to share! So, we're looking forward to trying them out!
As the seminar ended and everyone headed home, the snow arrived! Here's Arthur and Anne playing in snow!
